The AnImax endstation has been utilized for life as well as environmental science research at different synchrotron radiation facilities: P04 beamline of Petra III (sub 100 nm resolution achieved) and at the plane grating monochromator beamline in the PTB Laboratory at BESSY II (sub 150 nm resolution achieved).

Current applications in life science are the investigation of the lipid metabolism and the development of MR imaging probes as part of the Collaborative Research Center 1340 - Matrix in Vision.

In cooperation with Karin Eusterhues and Jürgen Thieme the phosphor distribution in leptothrix filaments is being investigated.

K-, L- as well as M-Lines between the C (280 eV) and the P (2010 eV) K-Lines have been successfully recorded. In principle the complete energy range of the P04 at PETRA II (250 eV - 3000 eV) is accessible.

Software based on forward calculation and the fundamental parameter approach describing the influence of the large solid angle of detection on the X-ray fluorescence spectra is under development. With these forward calculations absorption effects can be described for a wide range of sample systems.
