The BLiX laser-produced plasma source emits soft X-ray radiation isopropically into 2π. The combination of the energetic range with the isotropic emission poses special requirements for the design of efficient collecting optics. The isotropic emission necessitates large mirror surfaces. The low energy results in high requirements for the used substrates, while at the same time rendering lateral thickness gradients of the ML structures mandatory.

In a ZIM (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand) project sponsored by the BMWi (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie) we develop together with Axo Dresden GmbH focussing optics based on multilayer (ML) technology for point sources with large collecting angles.

As a first optic a Kirkpatrik-Baez (KB) arrangement is realized for the 1 keV region in order to test the practicability of the substrate conditioning and ML coating procedures. Characterization measurements are currently conducted and different other geometries will be realized during the ongoing project.
